A Vintage Tekke Turkmen Rug from circa 1960, hand knotted in wool by nomadic Turkmen tribespeople. The rug features a classic pattern of Güls (or elephant’s feet) and lozenge motifs. Softer pink-red tones combined with deep blue and cream colours are used to delineate the fine tribal pattern of the rug.
Turkmen Rugs or Turkoman Rugs are known for their fine weaves and meticulous craftsmanship. Their iconic patterns often feature Gül designs, and a mix of soft, rich and dark colours are used to form intricate geometric details. Master weavers created this rug with excellent quality wool, making it very soft to the touch and hardwearing. This rug is in excellent condition and has been professionally repaired and cleaned. The rug used to have rings for hanging, but these have subsequently been removed.
This fine example of a Vintage Tekke Turkmen Rug is an excellent complimentary feature for both modern and classic spaces. It would take pride of place in traditional living rooms and bedrooms or more open-plan contemporary living areas.
