Vintage Anatolian Kilim Rug

A wonderfully vibrant Vintage Anatolian Kilim Rug hand knotted using fine wool. The rug has a grand central medallion and smaller hexagonal and diamond motifs at both ends of the rug. Naturally dyed bright oranges and rich reds contrast with pastel greys, pinks and yellows. The bold colour combinations in this piece are a stand out feature and are not often found in Anatolian Kilim Rugs.A large central medallion is a more unusual design element, and it is more common to find multiple diamond or hexagonal lozenge designs running through the middle of Anatolian Kilim Rugs. This rug is flatwoven as it has been knotted on a horizontal loom, but it appears to have a pile when viewed from a distance because of the fine woollen yarn used.For its age (mid 20th century), the rug is in excellent condition and the mix of bright and pastel colours is sure to enliven any space in which it is placed, whether contemporary or more traditional.
