An Indian Rug hand knotted with a mixed technique to create both a full pile and soumak flatweave. The rug features rich reds, dark blues and creams within a design of geometric tribal motifs, all finely hand knotted. There are 63 squares in a tight flatweave bordered by a plain dark blue band with a complete pile. The main border of the rug also features a full pile of golden cream tones containing geometric flowers.
India has a long rug-weaving history dating back hundreds of years. The industry is well-established, with rug weaving centres throughout the country today. This rug was woven by highly skilled craftspeople from excellent quality wool, is in great condition, and as such, is very durable and soft underfoot.
This fine Indian Rug with intricate patterns is an excellent feature for traditional settings, as it brings traditional rug-making techniques and designs together to create a wonderfully balanced piece. The rug is best placed in living rooms, bedrooms and studies and is suitable for areas with high footfall.
