Contemporary Afghan Rug

A hand knotted geometric Contemporary Afghan Gabbeh Rug with a minimalist rectangular design. Soft and abrashed pastel colours give a calming feel to the piece, in contrast to the charcoal lines across the centre.Southern Iran is where Gabbeh rugs originate from, and rugs from this region have been the inspiration for the piece. The rich creams combined with sky blues and the introduction of smatterings of red create a clean, minimalist design. This is divided into four compartments by the featured charcoal cross. Fine and lustrous wool was used to weave the rug.While a contemporary piece, the more reserved design of this Contemporary Gabbeh can fit in almost any space.
