An intricate Antique South Persian Afshar Rug with a rare all-over design from circa 1890. The rug features geometric flowers throughout its centre, which are continued into the borders along with lined geometric diamond shapes. Deep blue, rich brown and rich red colours are used to form the pattern, broken up by cream tones.
Like many Persian Afshar Rugs, this piece originates from the south of Iran in the Fars province. These rugs are carefully woven by master weavers from excellent quality wool that gives a lustrous shine and excellent durability. This rug is in very good condition, with some areas of repair in the field and border.
