A large, low-pile Afghan Ziegler Carpet hand knotted in Afghanistan from lustrous wool. The rug features a classic all-over floral design of palmette, flower and frond motifs. A soft cream ground colour compliments the pastel beige, blue-green and red tones that form the flowing floral patterns throughout the central area and borders of the rug.
Afghan Ziegler Rugs are popular traditional rugs, and their floral patterns date back to the 19th century from Persian Ziegler Rugs. Ziegler and Co commissioned these rugs for the Western market in the late 1800s. This modern carpet was woven by skilled weavers, and the quality of craftsmanship and wool makes it a highly durable and soft piece. There is some very light staining on a few areas of the rug that is barely visible, and the carpet can be professionally cleaned to remove this light marking.
The soft, pastel tones of this Afghan Ziegler Carpet make the piece a versatile design feature. It is an excellent fit for classic and contemporary living, dining and bedrooms.
