A Vintage Persian Baluch Engsi Rug hand knotted in wool circa 1940 near the borders of Afghanistan and Pakistan. The rug features an all-over design of geometric diamonds bordered by lozenge and arrow motifs. Deep and rich red, deep blue and cream colours delineate these mixed patterns.
Persian Baluch Rugs originate from the South East of Iran. It is not unusual to find similar rugs from Pakistan and Afghanistan, as they are woven in the same area where these country borders meet. Skilled craftspeople wove this rug from lustrous wool, giving it a softness underfoot while maintaining high levels of durability. The rug is in very good condition, having minimal wear to the pile.
This Vintage Persian Baluch Engsi Rug's deep colours are the perfect grounding tones for traditional settings. The rug is an excellent feature for bedsides, hearths and snug areas.
