An Antique Persian Qashqai Rug with a fine weave from circa 1900. This rug has a central pole medallion consisting of 3 central diamonds surrounding geometric motifs, with a rare cream ground colour. The cream ground contrasts with the rich brown, dark blue and sky blue naturally dyed tones in the central area of the rug and borders, further emphasising the diamond medallions. These medallions are the focus of the rug's design, and they are beautifully framed by geometric flower and animal patterns.
This Qashqai was hand knotted with lustrous wool in South Persia by the nomadic Qashqai tribes and was finely woven by expert craftspeople. Its intricate detailing and rich colours make this piece an excellent addition for more traditional living rooms and bedrooms, but it would also sit well as a central design feature in more minimalist settings.
